LOOKING FORWARD
With all that is happening in our world today, do you feel that we have "lost it"? By "it", I mean all of the values that have guided us to shape a society that has compassion for each other as well as for ourselves.
There once was a time, not long ago, when a person, any person, could walk down the street or into a building and not have to look over their shoulder or around corners to feel safe. When we could have an outlook that would extend into tomorrow. We used to be optimistic, always looking forward, to see what the next day would bring. We could dream about the advances to be made and learn from the past to make a better tomorrow.
Now, we ask how much more government regulation can we put on the books to rectify the situations that we have created. We have become pessimistic in our outlook on the world and say that nothing can be done by us as people. We leave it up to the governments and the lawmakers. We do not dream about the future and tomorrow, we dream up ways to escape our responsibilities as parents and adults. We do not look at the past to see the mistakes made, we just look to our laws.
What has happened to our society? Our world? What has happened to our need to be our "brother's keeper"? Have we lost sight of what is right and proper?
I had a letter come across my desk yesterday, after the Georgia shootings, that put things into perspective for me. Just some thoughts as to why we are like we are now. I include it here for you to think about.
Whoa!
What in the world is happening with our kids today?
Let's see...
I think it started when Madelyn Murray O'Hair complained that she didn't want any prayer in our schools, and we said OK.
Then someone said you had better not read the Bible in school-the Bible that says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said, OK.
Remember Dr. Benjamin Spock, who said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem? And we said, OK, we won't spank them.
Then someone said that teachers and principals better not discipline our children when they misbehave. And our administrators said whoa, no one in this school better not touch a student when they misbehave because we don't want any bad publicity, and we surely don't want to be sued.
Then someone said, let's let our daughters have abortions if they want, and we won't even have to tell their parents. And we said, that's a grand idea.
Then someone else said, let's give our sons all the condoms they want, so they can have all the "fun" they desire, and we won't have to tell their parents. And we said, that's another great idea.
And then some of our top officials said that it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs. And we said, as long as I have a Job and the economy is good, it doesn't matter to me what anyone does in private.
So now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "we reap what we sow."
Whoa!
What a concept!"

Is it our kids fault? I think not. I think that we, the adults and law-makers, have failed our kids, no, our society and the world, by making laws and passing the buck to "others" to raise our next generation and the following generations. What happened to the morals that our grandparents had? What happened to the self-control that those of previous generations were taught? What happened to our society, to allow the corrupt to over-rule the just?
We are all at fault here, friends. We are at fault because we did not stand up for what was correct and just as all was changing around us. We, as the "adult" population, are at fault for not stopping the practices that we knew would corrupt our society, our sanity, our love for one another.
The children are not a fault for what is happening, we are. The children only learn from us. They learn what can be done and what should not be done from you and me. They learn that it is ok to have "free sex" with anyone. They learn that if you "get in trouble" you can go to your local "planned parenthood" office and get rid of it. We have taught that it is ok to kill an unborn child (abortion) and that it is ok to have your life terminated at the other end (euthanasia). Is it not just a short step to "clean up" at our schools? We have taught our children these things because we had not the strength to stand up for what was right and just for our society and ourselves.
The BIBLE says, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6) It does not say "Let the government.....or let someone else...." With this being true, what do we have in store for us? Better still, what do our children's children have in store for them? If our world keeps going on as it is, maybe there will be no society of man, no civilization, to have checks and balances to help us live with one another. We may regress to a feudal society, the Dark Ages Again, where the lords of the commons are able to do what they want and freedom is no more. We need to instill the proper respect in our children so that they can grow into accountable, productive members of mankind.
We have given away our rights (and responsibilities) as parents to the government. We have no one to blame but ourselves. It is up to us, as mature, responsible citizens, to regain those responsibilities and get things in order once again. The only way to do this is to lean on a knowledge far greater than ours, to have the inner strength to do what is right and stand up for those rights no matter the personal cost. We need to stand under the protection of G~D and His Son, Jesus, in order to regain our society and cast out the evil that has taken control.
Pray with us and for us all in this endeavor, that we may help save all that would ask to be saved:
Father,
We come before You in the Name of Jesus, with open hearts and
minds. In supplication, we ask that you show us that which we
must do to set the path straight and save our kind from the path
that we are on. We ask that you give guidance to all of us and
the inner strength to stay on the proper path to your ends.
We know that we have failed in many aspects and will fail again in the future, but do not give up on us. We stand on the promise "I will never leave you nor forsake you" and we give that promise back to You, "We will never leave You nor forsake You."
Father, show us Your ways, that we may gain oneness with You and Your children. That we may see Your Light and Your Way, not our own.
Father, help us to right the wrongs that we have enacted into law and common practice. Help us to make a better world for our children's children. Help us to realize the mistakes that we have made. Help us to see the methods necessary to peacefully bring back Your Word into our lives and into the lives of those around us.
We thank You, Father, for always being there for us.
In the Name of Jesus, Amen
