FOOD FOR THOUGHT
THE HARVEST
When you think of the word "HARVEST", what comes to mind? Grain growing in the fields? Fish growing in a tank for commercial resale? Plants in the nursery? Some other sort of material gathering ready to go to market? All of these and more are good examples of a "HARVEST". What comes to my mind is the just rewards for a job well done.
When our LORD sent us out into the world to sow the seeds that would grow into a "HARVEST" for HIS Glory, he made it clear that we, as the sowers (read farmers), would get our reward when the time was right, during the 'HARVEST". Many have grown strong in that knowledge and belief and truly KNOW (read I KNOW THAT I KNOW) that their efforts will give much GLORY to the LORD. They do not expect or demand that any special treatment be showered down upon them from ABOVE because each knows that each of the others are the same as they are (read EQUAL IN THE EYES OF THE LORD).
We work the fields and water the soil and fight the insects and rebuild the fortresses to help insure that the "HARVEST" will surely be plenteous. This applies to all that we do for the LORD and all that we do for ourselves and all that we do for each other. WE EACH ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT (read world) AROUND US. Our LORD asks each of us to help gather in the "HARVEST". It should, therefore, be up to each of us to help each other gather in our "HARVEST". We each have a job that we can do to help each other and ourselves at the same time. These jobs are very important to all who live in the area surrounding our homes and lives and families. Some help cut, some help haul, some help store, some help sell, some help move, others help arrange the logistics of the entire plan. All work together to help bring in the "HARVEST" and to help each of us gather in our just rewards. If you are good at cutting, then cut. If you are good at selling, then sell. If you are not good at something, then find someone who is and let them do it, you can find something else to put your efforts into that will help the entire plan work to completion.
If the LORD did not think that each of us would be able to do the job HE has put to us, then HE would have said so and found another way. We should think on these things when we do our jobs. People depend on the job we do as we depend on the job they do. We wash each others' hands (read rely on each other). One grows and reaps, the other stores and sells, so to speak. If the first did not reap, the second would have nothing to sell. If the first would not grow, the second would have nothing to store. If we do not spread the WORD, there will be no "HARVEST", for us or for others.
On the same thought, if we have sown the WORD and have started to grow and gather in the "HARVEST" and the storehouse was full or would not take any more for storage, who would be amiss? Would not the shepherd of the storage house? Is it not his duty to insure that there will be room for the "HARVEST"? Well, thankfully, we do not have to worry about that, for HE has said that there is a place for each and everyone of us if we just ask. HE IS TRULY HIS BROTHERS' KEEPER. Our LORD will not let us down. HE WILL BE THERE IN THE END AND IS THERE IN THE NOW AS WELL.
When the "HARVEST" time is here, think on the good things and believe that there will be room in the storehouse for all that is gathered. That we all will profit from our labors and not be shunted aside because the house is full. We put our faith in the LORD and that there will be room at the "HARVEST". Should we expect less from each other? If we each do our tasks to the best of our ability, there will be room for a plenteous "HARVEST".
I put my faith in the LORD and HE has never let me down, how can I let HIM down? HE has put HIS faith in me, I can not let HIM down.
How many people have we put our expectations on and been let down in the end? Don't let this year continue a trend. Start anew and do your best to complete the work that you have been assigned so that we all can reap our just rewards.
